12 Days of Christmas" in July – Why We Love This WOD Any Time of Year

Who says Christmas magic only comes once a year? At CrossFit 505, we brought back a fan-favorite workout—the 12 Days oChristmas WOD—for a little mid-year cheer, challenge, and community fun!

What is the 12 Days of Christmas WOD?

Inspired by the traditional carol, this WOD follows a cumulative format, similar to the song:

  • Round 1: 1 movement

  • Round 2: 2 + 1

  • Round 3: 3 + 2 + 1
...and so on, all the way to 12.

The workout typically ends with 12 full rounds (plus a whole lot of sweat, laughter, and high-fives). It’s mentally engaging, physically demanding, and a whole lot of fun.

Why we do it in July

We get it—December is chaotic. Between holidays, travel, and end-of-year fatigue, it's easy to miss out on this tradition. So, we’ve made "Christmas in July" a thing.

It’s the perfect time to:

  • Test your mental grit through a longer, more complex workout

  • Celebrate community with a bit of festive spirit (yes, even in the middle of winter in Australia!)

  • Have fun with training and break up the routine

Accessoires

This WOD pushes:

  • Endurance and stamina – You're working through 12 rounds with increasing volume

  • Memory and focus – Keeping track of the reps and sequence is a challenge in itself

  • Movement variety – You’ll hit multiple skills and muscle groups in one session

  • Team spirit – Whether you’re tackling it solo or with a partner, it brings the whole gym together

Final Thoughts 🎅

Fitness should be about more than just numbers. It’s about fun, community, and growth —and the 12 Days WOD delivers all three. Whether you're here for the sweat, the social vibes, or the silly Santa hats, we're glad you showed up.

Missed it? Don’t worry—we might just bring it back in December 😉
